Unevenly paired with Patrick Wolf last night, was the opening act of Essie Jain. Essie Jain’s music would be best suited at a space such as The Living Room. The quiet and intimate setting would have captured our attention better than last night’s show. It’s not the first time we’ve succumbed to an uneven musical lineup but we’ll hold our tongues about this one.

Last Thursday night, the Mercury Lounge was packed with three great bands and lots of noise. The night was originally billed with four bands but we were only able to catch Vampire Weekend, Mahogany and Land of Talk.
