Tally of the Yes Men is a beguiling pop record produced by Jeff Peters (Beach Boys Sound Engineer). Goldspot is made of Siddhartha, Ramy Antoun, Sergio Andrade, Derrick Horst and Seth McLain. As the story goes, Siddhartha (lead singer) moves to LA after an expired visa forced him to leave London and with a chance encounter with Ramy, they form Goldspot. A few months later, Tally of the Yes Men was produced. Though this album took a few listens for it to grow on us, first impressions aren’t the best impressions.

“It’s Getting Old”, “Friday” and “Time Bomb” are all stand out tracks. Siddhartha voice is pleasant enough on “Rewind” where he asks, Do we make it to the sequel / A second chance for our survival / Oh we all need a hallmark ending and to change your heart. The eleven tunes on Tally of the Yes Men are disjointed. The melodies and hooks are there but at times you wonder where it is going. There is much more happening with the first half of the album. The second half has a marching band opening on “Feel Good Program of The Year” and a simple piano melody on “In The Post”. The only downfall of this album is that it may fall into background music in that diner you frequent every week. You may need to politely ask your waitress to turn the volume up.
